CITY OF SHORT WALKS - located in N.Scottsdale, is a safe haven planned to be developed for elders and their families in order to improve intergenerational communication. Using a holistic approach, the units aim to become accessible locations for programs that promote wellbeing. Green is utilized to provide vitality to the landscape, make the structure stand out (wayfinding), and create a sense of biophilia. Outdoor areas are developed with natural materials to boost their health and welfare in order to overcome some of the common rigors of aging. The outdoor areas foster a sense of community among inhabitants and promote an active lifestyle.
