Our team was awarded Design Excellence for this Project


CITY OF SHORT WALKS - located in N.Scottsdale, is a safe haven planned to be developed for elders and their families in order to improve intergenerational communication. Using a holistic approach, the units aim to become accessible locations for programs that promote wellbeing. Green is utilized to provide vitality to the landscape, make the structure stand out (wayfinding), and create a sense of biophilia. Outdoor areas are developed with natural materials to boost their health and welfare in order to overcome some of the common rigors of aging. The outdoor areas foster a sense of community among inhabitants and promote an active lifestyle.

Conceptual Board

Designing outdoor spaces with natural materials and patterns is a way to enhance their activities while improving their health and wellbeing to combat some of the typical rigors of age.

SITE PLAN

The nearby senior living complex and communal amenities across the site develop the notion of community and can assist alleviate loneliness concerns among our elderly.

CLUSTER PLAN

Community Cafeteria

As a communal amenity for the neighborhood, a kitchen/cafeteria was created near the pool area. This space enables members of the community to organize small-scale events, outdoor gatherings, or even pick up daily meals for themselves. A modest commercial kitchen is included in the design.
