Rent A Desk - Coworking Office
To design this co-working space, a case study was built around the usage profile based on time-of-day, capacity of each cabin, occupational health and safety requirements, fire regulations, and aesthetics. The long and narrow aspect ratio of the space drove several design decisions especially regarding break-out spaces (conference rooms and lounging areas), the width of corridors, and distribution of capacity. An extensive study on the anthropometry and ergonomics of typical workspaces led us to create a basic structure for each of these individual spaces.
Time of day - Case study
The schematics show typical usage profiles of the space at different times of the day.
- Morning: This is when the High Occupancy cabins are used at their peak capacity since they are used by corporates who have scheduled hours.
- Afternoon: In the hour’s post-lunch, high usage of common spaces and conference rooms is typical due to meetings with clients.
- Evening: Rent a Desk is open 24 x 7 and hence the evenings are dominated by freelancers and night shift employees.
Floor Plan
• Rent A Desk is a 5 storeyed building that hosts co-working spaces and re-invents the idea of traditional cubicles.
• Co-working spaces are available in different sizes to accommodate the needs of companies ranging from large organizations to start-ups and freelancers.
• Designed in a chic, industrial style, with the help of exposed brick walls, local granite flooring, leather upholstery, reclaimed furniture, and re-invented lighting solutions.
• Each floor includes conference rooms, break areas, cabins of all sizes, waiting areas, admin spaces, printers, and a network room available for client usage.
• The layout leverages the use of natural light by placing most of the cabins on the periphery of the building.
