Ears on Nature - Meeting of Design Students

OBJECTIVE: To analyze, resolve, design, and build a seating solution for the patrons of Herestrau Park in Bucharest City.

LOCATION: Herestrau Park, Bucharest, Romania

YEAR: Summer of 2016

'Ears on nature' is a means for joggers and bikers in Herestrau Park to pause at the bridge, which is home to little chirpy birds. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of nature thanks to the bright yellow pipe installation and megaphones. As the team's lone architect, I was responsible for the design and structure of the wooden deck. The deck naturally opens to a beautiful view of the lake, and the park's scenery compliments the installation. Users can sit, lie down, and soak their feet on the deck. A team of seven people conceived and implemented the design in ten days. The City Council chose this MEDS installation as the only one of 15 to remain as a permanent feature.
